History of ALDC

Arabian Lights Dance Company, Inc. was founded in February 2006 by a group of enthusiasts who hoped to spread awareness and understanding of their beloved dance form. Under the direction of professional dancer, Athena, ALDC established a diverse membership of talented and dedicated dancers of all ages, shapes, sizes and backgrounds.

Since its inception, ALDC has entertained and educated a wide variety of audiences across Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey. ALDC frequently performs for local town festivals, retirement homes, community and non-profit organizations, and conferences. We also enjoy participating in events held by other dance troupes throughout DelMarVa.

On November 3rd, 2007, ALDC presented the Arabian Rhythms Grand Gala, featuring dancers from all over the East Coast of the United States, and world renowned dancer, choreographer and teacher, Jasmin Jahal. On October 25, 2008, ALDC presented Haflaween: A Spooky Twist on Belly Dance. Featuring dancers from all over Maryland and Delaware, Haflaween one of the largest performance gatherings of bellydancers ever to take place on DelMarVa.

Although ALDC was sad to lose Athena to her new home in Florida in January of 2009, we are optimistic about the future of our organization and look forward to many more years of dancing!
